Just saying, you could do much worse than to book theatre breaks to see Love Never Dies at the adelphi theatre in London. It’s a classic Andrew Lloyd Webber production with big scenes, highly visual effects, a cracking cast and some wonderful songs. The orchestra is used to full capacity and there are a few rock anthems in there as well. You won’t be dissapointed because you can see where your money has been spent, up there on the stage. Ramin Karimloo is a superb bass tenor in the role of the Phantom and Sierra Boggess makes a fantastic Christine but there are other characters in this musical as well, not all of which are imported directly from Phantom of The Opera.

The London version of Love Never Dies will go down in history eventually as the original, because when the show goes to Australia and Toronto Canada, and then Broadway, it will a slightly different beast with new set design, production and of course cast. So catch Love Never Dies in London with the original cast this autumn before everything moves onwards and remember, the best way to reserve good seats is to buy them as part of Love Never Dies Theatre Breaks

After watching all the super talented would be Dorothys on Over The Rainbow earlier this year, I can’t wait for the full blown Wizard of Oz musical to start up in London next March.

Danielle Hope won the casting competition of course, so she’ll be the big attraction leading the show as Dorothy, but if you were one of the many hundreds of thousands of fans who wanted Sophie Evans to win then that’s brilliant because you will get the chance to see Sophie as Dorothy on Tuesdays in the Wizard of Oz in London. So I think that this new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is going to be every bit as popular as his others if not more so for people from all over the UK going on theatre breaks in London. The rehearsals start in December this year I believe, and there’s going to be an extended period of technical rehearsals because the stage set is said to be particularly ambitious. They are even restoring the twin turntables at the London Palladium theatre! I don’t know who is going to be cast as the tin Man or the bashful lion yet, nor the Wizard of Oz himself come to think of it, but it is known that Lloyd Webber has been sneaking in to see Wicked recently, so let’s sit tight and wait for some interesting announcements.

I wonder if some people will get the wrong idea and think that the Wizard of Oz is a only a kids show? Most of us will have seen it as children ourselves, because of the popularity of the film version of the show, and because it’s so old that the musical script will have gone out of copyright which makes it economical for amateur dramatic societies to stage as a family show. But with the new West End version, the intended audience is surely going to be targeted as right across the whole spectrum of age ranges. Tim Rice is collaborating on writing the new songs with Andrew Lloyd Webber, and that’s a team which produced Evita. Joseph and a whole host of other hit musicals, so expect a serious amount of attention to matching the music and lyrics for an all round Wizard of Oz theatre breaks in London experience for young and old alike.

Billy Elliot the Musical recently celebrated its 4th year in London.

The best theatre break for Wicked fans right now is to get back up to London and see the Wicked show at Victoria. Alexia Khadime as Elphaba is brilliant and not to be missed.

I know a lot of people loved Kerry Ellis though, and here’s a picture of Kerry as Elphaba.

The big news is that Kerry Ellis is coming back to London, not as Elphaba though, nor even in Wicked at all but as Nancy in Oliver! Yes, Kerry Ellis is to take over the role from Jodie Prenger in March 2010 so there’s something for all the Kerry Ellis fans to look forward too.

The other news is that the show Wizard of Oz, for which Wicked is a prequel, is coming to London later in the year, after choosing one lucky young lady to play Dorothy by the same technique that gave us Jodie Prenger as Nancy. Yes, another Andrew Lloyd Webber reality TV talent show contest with the public choosing Dorothy – called “Over The Rainbow” will air in 2010, same rules, pack drill.

Love Never Dies : Phantom 2

Love Never Dies is the official title for the new musical set to hit the West End in 2010 sometime. It’s a sequel to Phantom of The Opera, based partly on the second book by Phantom author called “Love Never Dies” and the book by Frederick Frsyth which is a sequel to the Andrew LLoyd Webber musical of Phantom of the Opera, that book being named “The Phantom of Manhattan”.

Announcing Love Never Dies Opening Date

The anticipation of this mysterious production has been heightened by a message from the phantom himself naming the date for an important announcement about the show. October the 8th is the date so that’s when we’ll be looking forward to knowing more about the plans for opening Love Never Dies in London, probably at the Adelphi theatre in March, but who knows what the Really Useful company has in store for us all. There was once a plan to open simultaneously in London’s West End, New York’s Broadway and also Singapore but the logistics of that ambition must have been a nightmare.

Ben Elton, Writer for Love Never Dies

As well as having Andrew LLoyd Webber behind the venture, the success of Love Never Dies may be assured by having the brilliant writer Ben Elton on board as well. Ben is the person beg=hine Blackadder rides again and the clever and amusing writing that makes We Will Rock You so much more than just a tribute musical.
